I don't know what my problem is. Is there some point when I will actually enjoy running? I can't seem to go more than 1/2 mile at a time. Of course, I'm attempting these runs at noon every day in central Texas. This could be a reason I suddenly can't breathe part way through.

On a side note: I weighed myself today to see another pound gone. I was pretty stoked and started to pick out clothes and put on underwear. Wanting to see the number on the scale again, I hopped back on. Only it was already back to the weight I was yesterday. I have VERY heavy undergarments, apparently. :)

I haven't run in 5 days.

This may explain why I could only make 1/2 mile before my body realized, Oh Yeah! I don't like jogging. I'm a little annoyed with myself for not being able to go further, but I did intersperse the walking with some jogging. But that damn stitch in my side kept coming back.

It's frustrating that 2 weeks of walk/jogging can be undone with just a few days of sitting on my ass. Now, I'm working back up to the mile I thought I had surpassed.

In other news, I was a pound less today on my scale! Yay!!

I know I haven't been here in awhile, but I had some news that I know you guys will appreciate.

I just jogged 1.35 miles.

OK, it's not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but it IS a lot for me. I also know that many relatively unfit people can easily jog several miles. But, I am not athletic and the fact that I made it over a mile just rocks.

It would be nice if I could actually jog 3 miles straight. I mentioned here last year that I wanted to do be able to do that. Maybe this year I'll actually take steps to achieving it.

I know that salads are very healthy meals but I hate almost all store bought salad dressings that I've tried, especially ranch... ick!

So who knows of a good salad dressing?

Another problem I have with salads is that i basically only eat the same few veggies in them: lettuce, tomato, carrots, occasionally olives... thats about it. I'm not a big raw veggie person. Any suggestions that will jazz up a boring salad?

ok here it is, my brand new vegetarian community.

Membership is not open to everyone, you have to get approved by me. I will approve basically anyone who is truly a vegetarian or vegan, or those people who have a genuine interest in the following: alternative eating, becoming a vegetarian, sharing vegetarian recommendations and recipes and product tips, those who want to educate themselves on how vegans and vegetarians eat. Please read the no_mo_meat bio and interests before joining.

Now go out and join and recruit members!

This morning was my big weigh-in at the doctor, and the scale says - 181. Not quite what my doctor wanted, but plenty good enough. It'll still be a few days, though, before I find out what that did to my cholesterol.

So now it's time to dig into the Christmas candy, right???

Tomorrow morning is my follow-up doctor appointment, when I weigh in and see where I am. Wish me luck! I was at 184 on my parents' scale back at Thanksgiving - not quite the 15 pound drop my doctor wanted, but a definite improvement. Maybe that will be enough to get the evil triglycerides under control.

hey everyone! well, our community has since died in the last several months, so i thought that i would try to start it back up again! i recently re-started taekwondo in october, and though i have not been able to go as much as i would like, i am getting there. i can already tell a difference though from day 1! the first several classes i would tire so easily, and was sucking on my inhaler hard, now though, i can make it through the majority if the class fine with only taking my inhaler once, if even that! i am not eating as much as i used to either, i do not usually have an appetite anymore, and when i do eat, i usually do not finish the entire meal, another good thing! i have not weighed myself in a month or so, so i don't know if i have lost or gained weight, though a fellow co-worker came up to me last week and told me i looked like i had lost weight. we shall see i guess! i will try to post more often with updates on everything! i hope the rest of you guys are doing well! :)

I've been looking online for veggie recipies to try, and now I've found my first successful experiment:

Warm Zucchini and Tomatoes

Stay tuned. There may be others.

...and it's so far so good with my diet plans. I've been able to stick with the little changes I've made. The new stomach medication has enabled me to eat fruit again, so I've gone back to eating apples at lunch instead of pretzels. I've cut the amount of soda I drink from three cans per day down to two. (This is another area where the world's worst stomach gets in the way - no artificial sweeteners for me.) I've cut all my late-night snacking, although I will have some rice milk ice cream tomorrow evening. And I've gotten some whole wheat flour to mix with the standard white bread flour in my bread recipies.

Next, tackling the wonderful wide world of vegetables. Ventura County has plenty of farms and produce markets, but I have absolutely no idea what to do with a vegetable in the kitchen. This could get interesting...
